So finally on 10th July 2009, I could tell myself that my dreams come true ! Unlike other days, it was quite a different, there were loads of transactions of thoughts in my mind, coz I was about to fly to USA that day at 11 PM from Mumbai. I just couldn't decide what to do or what not to do? I wanted to share this news with all of my family members but I couldn't, coz it happened couple of time before that after I told my family about my USA tour, tour got cancelled at the very moment :( So this time I decided to keep quite. (which was very difficult for me !)
This was the first time I shopped so rapidly and in such a great hurry that I couldn't decide what I wanted to purchase. I was just picking up the things randomly. Risky affair! My credit card bills went as high as 42000/- INR [I will say INR only as I am going to USA ;-)]
There were two kinds of thoughts in my mind that day. 1st about my future enjoyments in US and 2nd about the best period of my life which I spent with my colleagues after I joined Mphasis. It was terrific feeling when I left basement where I said my final good bye to all my dear friends. They made me emotional with deep sorrow in my heart. Really. My mind was flooded with 2nd type of thoughts only. Somehow I controlled my mind. My bro was with me to drop at airport. This was the first time I was going to airport so didn't knew about all the procedures to check-in the luggages and all. I was bit nervous but excited. I said good bye to my bro at the visitor's gate only. I checked-in my luggage. I was just following instruction boards hanging on the ceiling. I underwent security checkings 2-3 times ! Then immigration checking. I ate a samosa that cost me 60 INR. So much costly ! Then at one point a lady was calling passengers by the class of tickets they were carrying (Business class, First class, Economy class etc). Obviously I went at the last (economy class).
I was guessing that a van will be there which will take all the passengers to the middle of the ground where airoplane would be standing. But mmy guessing was completely wrong. When lady called all economy class passengers, I went, door opened, there 5-6 male crew members were checking the passengers once again (I hope it would be a final checking !). I was inside a long, fully air conditioned, little dark, rectangular pipe sort of thing which was leading us to the entrance of the plane. You cannot see outer portion of the plane from here. There was a well heighted, dark, black american lady (I guess she was air-hostess) standing for welcoming the passengers ! At this moment I come to know that I have entered into the plane. It was 11:26 pm 10th July 2009. Historic day for me obviously :)
I followed others searching the seats. After some time I got my seat. Window seat belonged to Reddy, and middle seat for me, and last seat was booked for one NRI probably. I decided to behave like a descent, frequent air-traveller ;-) But I am damn sure that NRI has got to know that this is my very first journey ! Hahaha...Reddy and I were doing very wierd things like we were constantly looking through the window, adjusting our chairs even though I was not sure how to do it, kept playing with screen and remote like a child. At this time that NRI has plugged earphones. Reddy and me started searching for our earphones impatiently. Later airhostess distributed it to all. All airhostess were either black or old aged ! It was very first time I saw any plane from inside. It was very long. I was very happy but also worried about 14 hours long jouney. How these many hours will pass just by seating ! As we were reaching near destination, a thought started running throught my mind that I will never again travel with planes.
Food which they served was tasteless. But I ate it with a good pleasure (just a show off), just to that NRI think that I am habitual to such kind of food ! hahaha....But frankly, I hated that food a lot. Airhostess got some drinks and asked us. NRI got a beer can. Thinking that this would be for free, I also asked for a can. She said its for $5 ! Then at the very moment I asked for a water glass ! Hahaha....Luckily it was for free. After this I asked for water only.
At 11:30 PM plane started taking off. Till this day I used to look up at the planes flying in the sky, but today I was looking down to earth from the plane. It was beautiful experience travelling first time in the flight.....dreams flying in the sky !
